Course Description: The course addresses the concept of housing and its cultural, social, and economic dimensions. It also covers the development of housing provision policies worldwide, identifying the shortcomings and failures that accompanied them. The course highlights types of housing needs and the factors affecting the prioritization of those needs. It also addresses the concept of housing quality, its main aspects, and methods of measurement. The topic of sustainability in the housing environment is included at the level of the dwelling and the surrounding environment, and the role of the architect in achieving it. In addition, the course clarifies major housing patterns, how they aggregate, and their main advantages and disadvantages.
